This project involved creating matching salsa costumes for the 5 member kids dance team at Yirii Dance Studio.
For the girls, I designed flapper-style dresses with tiers of spandex fringe that swayed and shimmied with their movements. The dark purple color looked bold under the stage lights.
The boys received coordinated vests made from purple spandex that allowed full range of motion.
The simple, movement-friendly designs enabled the young dancers to feel comfortable performing their choreographed salsa routine. The stretch fabrics and fringe layers effortlessly adapted to their spins, kicks, and shimmies. The costumes aligned perfectly with the sassy, playful vibe of their performance.
This project shows my ability to create customized looks based on the unique needs of young dancers. The kids gleefully embraced their costumes and had a blast dancing in them.
