If so, dance workouts are for you! Many types of dance routines can be used as exercise. The best part is they don't require any special equipment or training - all it takes is your own body and the willingness to dance! In this blog post, we will discuss a few of the most popular dance workouts and their benefits for your body.
Different Types Of Dance Workout Classes
There are various dance fitness classes available for anyone who wants to workout while getting healthy.
If you are looking to start incorporating dance into your daily exercise regimen, here are some dance styles you might want to try out:
Hip Hop
Hip hop is a popular dance workout and consists of many different dance moves that can be modified to fit many fitness levels. You don't need any dance experience whatsoever - just an open mind! A great thing about hip hop is the upbeat music, which can really get your heart pumping and motivate you to dance and workout more.
Zumba
Zumba is a high-intensity dance fitness workout that uses Latin music to aid in the dance process. Many people who take Zumba classes love the dance moves because they are easy to follow and fun to do! Zumba typically lasts around an hour, perfect for those who want a full-body workout.
Belly Dance
If you are looking for something that stands out from other dance routines, belly dance may be right up your alley. Belly dance is a beautiful dance form that uses dance moves from different cultures and incorporates them into a workout routine. Many belly dance classes have been taught in community centers, gyms, and on college campuses - so don't be afraid to give it a try!
There are also available Belly Dance videos on Youtube that provide classes you can do at home! My favorite instructor to watch is Sadie Marquardt who's instructions are easy to follow and provide a solid foundation for learning the basics all the way up to more advanced moves.
Salsa
Salsa dance classes are great if you already have some dance training and experience, but not to worry - learning the basics is relatively easy if you can count and have a sense of rhythm. Salsa is considered an excellent cardiovascular workout as the movements and dance combinations can be pretty dynamic and quick.
A word of caution: Salsa can be addicting! This was my gateway into the world of dance. What started out as a fun hobby to stay in shape quickly turned into a lifestyle filed with classes, social dancing, traveling around the world, performing and connecting with a large community of awesome people. I'm not afraid to admit that my lifestyle revolves around time on the dance floor!
African Dance
African dance workout involve lots of movement and dance routines passed down from generation to generation. One great thing about African dance is how it incorporates all parts of your body into a workout - whether you want a lower-body or upper-body dance cardio routine, they are both available!
Barre Workout
Barre workouts are dance routines that use a ballet barre for support. The dance moves in Barre classes can range from very easy to advanced, but most importantly, they work your body and burn lots of calories! This is great if you want to tone up certain parts of your body without bulking yourself out with weights or other training equipment.
Cardio Dance
Cardio dance are dance routines that use aerobic dance moves to increase your heart rate and get you healthier. Many cardio dance classes incorporate the latest music, making it easier for people who are not dancing enthusiasts to enjoy the dance workout.
